كتب القاص (علاء الدين حسو) مجموعته القصصية الجديدة (عمى ألوان) في أقل من مئة صفحة تقاسمتها سبع عشرة قصة قصيرة، حمل ما يقارب ثلثاها عنواناً مؤلفاً من مفردة واحدة، فالقاص يعلن صراحة منذ عتباته السردية الأولى ميله إلى الاختصار.
ثم نكتشف في المتن السردي أيضاً أن القاص يفضل الإيجاز مبتعداً عن الحشو، ويميل إلى البساطة متجاهلاً التعقيد، ويختار المواضيع المألوفة متحاشياً الغرابة. لذلك كانت قصصه قريبة من المتلقي العادي الذي يحلو له الخلود إلى قصص تتناول جزئيات مألوفة من الحياة الاجتماعية التي قد يعرفها جيداً، ورغم ذلك يريد رؤيتها مكتوبة، وربما طلباً لرؤيتها من زاوية جديدة.
كما إن القاص يتقن بدرجة جيدة مهارات القص الفني من زوايا اختيار الموضوع، وتناول الفكرة، وتقديم الشخصية، وصناعة الحبكة.
