كتاب مذهل ، أخاذ ، نتاج عقل لا يهدأ ولا يرضى أن يقف عند أقل من الامتداد المفتوح لنقد الذات. وهو من الناحية الكتابية يوضح بجلاء أن دي مان قد توصل إلى منطلقه التفكيكي بطريق مستقلة عن تأثير ديريدا. هذا ماقاله "كرستوفر نوريس". أما "فولاد غودزيتش"فقد قال: لا يقرأ بول دي مان ليشكل هويته، أو هوية النص ، ولا هو يقرأ ليصل إلى هوية ما وراء النص. بل هو يريد أن يحدد موقع نقطة العمى في النص بوصفها منظم فضاء الرؤية التي يحتوي عليها النص . نقطة العمى هذه هي الموقع الشمس الذي يعمّى على الاجرام السماوية حوله وينظمها أيضاً. وليس الشمس نفسها تاريخ ثوري، أو بالأحرى ، يكمن تأريخها في مكان أخر ، وفي بعد آخر . أما "سعيد الغانمي"فقد قال: "في العمى والبصيرة"يقرأ دي مان مجموعة من الموضوعات والنصوص لدى عدد من المفكرين: النقاد الجدد، لوكاتش ، بلانشو ، بوليه ، روسو ، ديريدا ، هولدرلين ، هيدغر ، بلوم ، نيتشه ...إلخ .وفيه يبين المفارقة التي بمقنضاها يحقق هؤلاء الكتاب بصيرة من خلال كونهم في قبضة عمىً من نوع ما.
