شبيل، طفل في الحادية عشرة، قارئ نهم للكتب، عاشق للمعرفة، لكن الحرب سرقت منه طفولته ووالده وهدوء قريته. حين تهجره الحرب إلى مدينة أخرى، يجد نفسه وسط مغامرة لم يكن يتخيلها: رحلة هروب جماعية عبر البحر، نهاية مأساوية، ونجاة وحيدة تلقي به في أرض غريبة على شواطئ الأندلس.
هناك، يلتقي بجندي آلي يُدعى "منصور" هارب من سلطة مجلس يتحكم بمصير الآليين. تنطلق المطاردة الكبرى بين شوارع غرناطة وأقواس قرطبة وحدائق الأندلس، حيث يمتزج الحاضر بالماضي، والتكنولوجيا بعبق الحضارة، والطفل الذي صار شبحاً يبحث عن مكانه في عالم يتصارع بين آلة وبشر.
الرواية تأخذك في سباق محموم بين المطاردة والبحث عن الحرية، بين جمال التراث الأندلسي ودمار الحرب، بين إنسانية طفل وذكاء آلة يبحث عن معنى وجوده. ومع كل صفحة، ستتساءل: من هو الشبح الحقيقي؟ الطفل التائه، أم الإنسانية الضائعة بين الحروب والتكنولوجيا؟
