فالجمع بين الصلاتين لأجل المطر من الرخص التي وسع الله بها على عباده ورفع عنهم الحرج، والرخصة في الجمع للمطر هي مذهب الجماهير من السلف والخلف.
قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية رحمه الله: فهذه الآثار تدل على أن الجمع للمطر من الأمر القديم المعمول به بالمدينة زمن الصحابة والتابعين، مع أنه لم ينقل أن أحدًا من الصحابة والتابعين أنكر ذلك فعلم أنه منقول عندهم بالتواتر جواز ذلك. انتهى.
