كانوا جميعا منشغلين بالمراقبة، و كعادتهم، كان يراقب عبر المناظير كل من د.حمود ود.مجدي و د.هشام، في حين آثر متابعة المشاهد المتلاحقة عبر شاشات الرادار وكاميرات الفيديو كل من د.عبد الله ود.رياض.
تلال، وهاد، هضاب، سهول، ووديان تعج بالحياة الحيوانية المائية منها العملاق كبعض أنواع الأخطبوط والحبار، و قناديل البحر والربيان والديدان الأنبوبية، فلقد أدهشهم قنديل بحر عملاق بقطر ثلاثة أمتار ولا يقل وزنه عن الطن والنصف، وشاهدوا كذلك ديدان أنبوبية يصل طولها إلى حوالي خمسة أمتار تبدو وكأنها مغروسة في رمال إحدى الهضاب القاعية، كما شاهدوا قواقع عملاقة تتسع الواحدة منها لإنسان.
ومنها كذلك المخلوقات المتناهية الصغر التي لا يتجاوز طولها الملليمتر؛ أما الحياة النباتية فهي أشد غرابة: غابات من شجيرات طحلبية وأخرى تتكون من سوق عملاقة يتلاعب بها الماء، وغابات أخرى من الإسفنجيات والمرجانيات ..بينما تناثرت القواقع في كل مكان ... أما الألوان فهي أكثر تنوعا وزهوا من تلك التي تغطي سطح الأرض
