سمعت كوثر طرقات العاملين في الشركة علي الباب ووققعت علي الأوراق وتسلمت العجلة التي ركبوا أجزائها وعرفت طريقة عملها ودفعت لها عشرين جنيه بحالها.
ثار محمود ثورة عامة عندما عرف بما حدث إلا أنها أستطاعت احتوائه كما توقعت في غرفة نومهما وجعلته واحدة من أجمل غزواته معها.
إلا أن ما حدث بعد ذلك جعل كوثر حديث الشارع كله فقد بدأت تزوي شيئا فشيئا ثم صارت لا تخرج من البيت وإلا لماما وارجع البعض ذلك لما فعله محمود معها في ليلة شراء العجلة أما البعض الآخر فقد تصور أن السبب في ذلك هو أن تلك العجلة أصبحت لا تعمل بعد عشرين يوما فقط ولم يأت أحد من الشركة لإصلاح العجلة كما وعدوها ولم يكن في مقدور كوثر أن تتحمل تلك الصدمة الكبيرة .
