كاتب وصحفي عراقي مقيم في باريس، حاصل على شهادة الماجستير في العلوم السياسية من جامعة السوربون. وبكلوريوس في الأدب الفرنسي من بغداد. يمارس مهنة الصحافة السمعية البصرية منذ عام ٢٠٠٣. ألف روايته الأولى بعنوان أيام قبل السقوط وهو عمل أدبي يسلط الضوء على مشاكل المجتمع العراقي في المرحلة الأخيرة قبل سقوط نظام صدام حسين وقد تم تدريسها لمدة عامين في قسم اللغة العربية في جامعة السوربون بباريس.
أما روايته الثانية حراس البوابة فهي تعالج المأساة الطائفية في العراق وكذلك عمليات سلب وتدمير الآثار والتراث العراقي انطلاقات من البعثات التبشيرية والدبلوماسية الأجنبية في القرن التاسع عشر وحتى الوقت الحاضر على أيدي الجماعات المتطرفة.
وبالاضافة للنشاط الأدبي والإعلامي يعتبر المدفعي من الرسامين العراقيين المجددين من خلال أسلوب سكيت أوربان الذي ينقل من خلاله صوراً ومشاهد الحياة اليومية في العراق وعدة دول حول العالم.
