ارتفعت أصوات التنبيهات من خلفي ، فرمقته يعبر الطريق وهو يتحاشى السيارات في ليونة ويسر ، حتي وصل إلى أصدقاء النافورة ، فوضع مناديله بالقرب من المياه، وما إن اقترب منهم حتي رشّه أحدهم ببعض الماء في وجهه ، فضحكوا جميعا منه في عبث طفولي جميل ، وبادلهم الضحكات والرشات ، فوقفت بجانب الطريق أتابعهم
كان اليوم صائفا بما يكفي حتى تغلي الرءوس كالمراجل ويتندي العرق من كل جبين ، وما أشد شمس الصيف وسط النهار ، وكأن هذا الوقت ما سمي بالزوال إلا لزوال الأخلاق من النفوس بفعل الحر ولزق العرق ، حيث تهدلت الشمس بأشعتها الجارحة فأرسلتها حامية كأسياخ الجحيم ، حتي ليشعر المترجل بلسعاتها أسفل قدميه في حذائه ، فتدافع المارة هذا القيظ الحارق بترطيب رءوسهم برش الماء ، أو الإحتماء بالجرائد ، أو التجفيف المستمر للعرق بالمناديل.
