كتاب المجتمع المدني والعدالة تأليف توماس ماير، من خلال هذه الدراسة نرى الكاتب يسلط الضوء بفكره على التفاعل بين المجتمع المدني والسياسة الحديثة للحكومات للوصول إلى نموذج جديد لمجتمع الرفاهية وذلك عبر عدة مقالات تم عرضها فى المؤتمر الثاني لأكاديمية السياسة والفلسفة الذى أقيم فى يوليو من العام 2004 واستهدف المؤتمر معالجة مدى إسهام المجتمع المدني فى زيادة قدر العدالة داخل المجتمع.
ويحدد أحد المفكرين الكبار فى مقالة ضمها الكتاب بعنوان "حقوق الإنسان وتخصيص الواجبات" حقوق الإنسان فى البداية، بوصفها حقوقًا مستحقة أو بوصفها حقوقًا معلنة، ثم يتابع ما تتعرض له هذه الحقوق من اختراقات، وهو يقدم كذلك نموذجًا ل لتوزيع الواجبات والالتزامات الملموسة الناتجة عن طلبات منسحبة على الاحتياج، ويناقش هذا من منظورات دولية. وهكذا يتناول الكاتب دراسته من خلال عدة مقالات
