حمدي أبو جليّل (ولد في الفيوم سنة 1967) هو روائي وكاتب قصص قصيرة مصري من جذور بدوية مصرية. فازت روايته "الفاعل" بجائزة نجيب محفوظ 2008.
نشأته الأدبية
هاجر أبو جليل إلى القاهرة في أوائل الثمانينات، وعمل كعامل بناء في مواقع البناء.، قدمت هذه التجارب في وقت لاحق مادة لمساعيه الأدبية.
كان كتابه الأول عبارة عن مجموعة من القصص القصيرة التي نشرت في عام 1997 تحت عنوان "أسراب النمل". أما مجموعته الثانية "أشياء مطوية بعناية فائقة" والتي صدرت في عام 2000 وفازت بالعديد من الجوائز الأدبية.
عمله
يعمل كمدير تحرير سلسلة الدراسات الشعبية المختصة بنشر الفولكلور ودراساته تحت إشراف وزارة الثقافة المصرية ويكتب بجريدة السفير اللبنانية.
عمل مع الروائي إبراهيم اصلان في سلسلة آفاق الكتابة العربية وظل مديراً لتحريرها حتى أغلقت بعد ازمة نشر رواية ” وليمة لاعشاب البحر ” سنة 2000.

في مثل هذه الأحوال أتخيل حياتى على هيئة دفاتر مرصوصة فى رأسى، أحيانا تفتح واحدا واحدا، وأحيانا تندلق مرة واحدة وتختلط ذكريات الطفولة بملامح أخر وجه رأيته، والآن أرى منظرى فى شبرا، كنت فى العشرين من عمرى، وكنت عائدا للتو من رحلة عمل فى ليبيا، وكنت أشتغل فى الفاعل وأبحث طوال الوقت عن وظيفة، وكنت أسكن فى أوضة فى عين شمس مع أرعة زملاء من البلد، وكنت أشتغل مع مقاول هدد وإنما هدد وبناء، لايشتغل إلا فى البيوت الآيلة للسقوط، البيوت التى شمعت بالشمع الأحمر وصدرت قرارات نهائية بتنكيسها هى صميم عمله، ينحى الشمع الأحمر بلطف يناسب مكانته الرسمية ويتسلل للبيت بكتيبة عمال، فريق يحفر القواعد وفريق يشق الأعمدة والحوائط، وما هى إلا أيام وتتحقق المعجزة، ويصبح البيت المهدد بالسقوط عمارة طويلة ملونة، ومعظم البيوت القديمة فى شبرا ونواحيها تدين له بفضل استمرارها فى قيد الحياة.
