Book Description
عندما دخل الفاتحون العرب إلى إسبانيا، فإنهم وفي السنة الثالثة من الفتح دخلوا (إشبونة) أي لشبونة عاصمة البرتغال في يومنا هذا، وكان ذلك في حوالي عام 714م على يد عبد العزيز بن موسى بن نصير. غير أنه لم يكن للبرتغال وجود سياسي أو كيان مستقل يومذاك. لذلك فقد أطلق العرب اسم (الغرب) أي غربي الأندلس على أرض البرتغال. وقد بقي العرب في لشبونة إلى عام 1150 تقريباً عندما انتزعها منهم أول ملك برتغالي هو دون أفونسو هنريك، وقام هذا بإعلان استقلال دولة البرتغال، لكن العرب بقوا في جنوب البرتغال إلى عام 1250م، وكانت تلك سنوات مقارعة باسلة، حاول فيها المغرب العربي إنقاذ ما يمكن إنقاذه هناك ولكن بدون جدوى. ثم دارت عقارب الساعة حينما باشر البرتغاليون عالم الفتوحات البحرية، فاحتلوا سواحل المغرب وتمكنوا من الوصول إلى الهند، وبذلك احتلوا بعض مناطق الخليج العربي. إلا أن بداية النهاية للبرتغال كدولة عالمية كبرى تم على يد الدولة المغربية السعدية التي تمكنت من قهر جيش أوروبي يقوده ملك البرتغال سيباستيان، فأهلكوه وأهلكوا جيشه معه، وكان ذلك في عام 1578، ثم تمكنت بعد ذلك الدولة اليعربية العمانية من طرد البرتغاليين بصورة نهائية من الخليج العربي في حوالي عام 1720.
