لَعَلَّ جميعُنا يعرف السناجب، وإنْ كانت لا تعيش في بُلدانِنَا، غير أنَّنا قد رأيناها وسمعنا بها، سواءً كان ذلك في الأفلام الوثائقيَّة التي تتناول حياة تلك المخلوقات أو في بعض الأفلام الهوليوديَّة، أو حتَّى في حلقات الرسوم المتحرِّكة للأطفال. وعلى الرُّغمِ من اشتهار عائلة السناجب إلَّا أنَّ كثيرًا منَّا يجهل أكثر أفراد تلك العائلة، ولا يكاد يعرف منها إلَّا السناجب الأرضِيَّة مُخَطَّطَة الظهر، التي قد تُرَى على الأشجار وفوق أسطح المنازل في كندا والولايات المُتَّحِدة الأمريكيَّة، والتي مثَّلَت دور البطولة في مجموعة كبيرة من الأفلام السينِمائيَّة وأفلام الرسوم المتحركة الشهيرة باسم Chipmunks.
السناجب الهنديَّة العملاقة هي أحد فصائل السناجب العملاقة التي تعيش في نصف الكرة الشَّرقِيّ، والتي لم يكن الكثير يعرفون عنها من قبل، ولم يتصوروا وجود أنواع من السناجب بتلك الألوان المتداخلة العجيبة، ولكن ها نحن ذا مع ترجمة لأحد المقالات الصغيرة التي تتحدث عن أحد تلك الفصائل العملاقة من السناجب؛ لنزداد يقينًا يومًا بعد يومٍ بعظمة الخالق سبحانه وتعالى.
