تمتلك الأفاعي ذوات القرون على اختلاف فصائلها سُمعةً سيِّئَةً في مواطنِها، وقد حازت من الأساطير الكثير، فنُسِجَتْ حولها الحكايا والخرافات، ونُسِبَتْ إليها الكثير من الاتهامات، وهُوِّلَ مِن أمرها حتَّى فاقت شُهرَتُها وخطورتُها الكثير من أنواع الثعابين والأفاعي الأخرى الأكثر خطرًا على الحقيقة.. وقديمًا قالوا في الأمثال «الصيت.. ولا الغِنَى».. وتلك الأفاعي قد أغنى صيتُها عن غِنَاها، وتكفَّلَتْ قرونُها الشيطانيَّة بالحديث بدلًا منها، والإفصاح عمَّا كان مِن مكنوناتها وما لَمْ يكُن.. موعدنا اليوم مع جنس من الأفاعي الصغيرة في حجمها، الشيطانة في صيتِها.. جنس الأفاعي المُقَرَّنة..
