الكتاب الذي نحن بصدده اختار له مؤلفه عنوانان أولهما "أوراق الذهب" وثانيهما "المعارف الذهبية اللجينية في المحاسن الذهبية الحسينية".
أما وجه تسميته بالمعادن فهذا يعود على أن المؤلف جعل كتابه مشتملاً على مقدمة وخاتمة وبينهما فصول عشرة سماها بالمعادن احتوت على مواضيع مختلفة وضع لها عناوين بأسماء المعادن النفيسة المعروفة من أمثال: "الدرر والعسجد والفضة والياقوت والجواهر والبتر والعقيق والفيروز... الخ" أما عناوين الفصول أو "المعادن" فهي على التوالي: في اسم الممدوح ولقبه، فضائله ورتبه، مشاغله وتعبه، مصائبه وكربه، مآثره وقربه، رسائله وكتبه، أصله ونسبه، فرعه وشعبه... وكما يبدو منها فإنه التزم السجع ونهج نهج القدماء في تأليفه وأبعد كثيراً من مراميه لشدة تكلفه فيه، كما ضمنه الكثير من الشواهد القرآنية والحديثية والأمثال والشعر العربي والفارسي معاً، وغالب ما فيه من النظم عائد له، والكتاب صورة من الأدب العربي في ركن قصي من شبه القارة الهندية وقد كتب بالأسلوب المتبع هناك منذ حدود القرن النصف من السنين، وفيه كثير من النوادر والفوائد التاريخية لكنه لم يخل من الحشو المنمق نظراً للأسلوب السجعي المتبع فيه ورغبته في تأييد كل ما يأتي به من أحكام مسبقة على بعض أبناء عصره كما هو الحال في إمعانه بمحاججة الأغيار من غير السائرين في ركابه.
وبالنظر لأهمية الكتاب فقد اعتنى "محمد سعيدي الطريحي" بتحقيقه مقسماً الرسالة إلى ثلاثة أقسام تضمنت ما يلي: 1-القسم الأول: أحوال العائلة الشوشترية وتراجم أعلامها. 2-القسم الثاني: النص المخطوط. 3-القسم الثالث: الدلداريون وأعلامهم في الهند.
