هؤلاء السيدات:- الخادمات و السيدة- تتلفظن بحماقات؟ كما أفعل أنا كل أمام المرآة أثناء حلق ذقني، أو في الليل عندما أشعر بالملل، أو عندما أظن أنني وحدي في الغابة: إنها حكاية، أي نوع من السرد المجازي الذي ربما كان هدفه الأول عندما كنت أكتبه هو الاشمئزاز من نفسي بالتعريف ورفض التعريف بمن أكون. والهدف الثاني هو إفشاء نوع من الانزعاج داخل القاعة...، إنها حكاية... يجب في آن واحد الاعتقاد بوجودها ورفض هذا الاعتقاد، لكن من أجل ترسيخ الاعتقاد بها يجب ألا يكون أداء الممثلات حسب نمط واقعي. عجيبات أم لا، هاتان الخادمتان فظيعات، مثلنا نحن عندما نرى أنفسنا في الحلم في صورة هذا الشخص أو ذلك. دون أن أستطيع التعبير بالضبط عما هو المسرح، أعرف ماذا أرفض له أن يكون: وصف الحركات اليومية منظورا إليها من الخارج: أتردد على المسرح كي أرى نفسي فوق الخشبة (مختزلا في شخصية واحدة أو بواسطة شخصيات متعددة وعلى شكل حكاية)، كما لن أستطيع – أو لن أجرأ- أن أرى نفسي أو أحلم بها، ولكن على الشكل الذي أعرف أني عليه. وظيفة الممثلين إذن أن يتحملوا حركات وأقنعة تمكنهم من إظهاري أمام نفسي، ومن إظهاري عاريا في العزلة وفي نشوتها.
