وراح يفتش عنها فى كل مكان ، بالقرب من لوحاته وكتبه وألوانه، بالقرب من كل شعاع ضوء ينطلق فى حجرته، لكنه لم يجدها ...حتى عندما أضاء نور حجرته الكبير وهو لا يعبأ أن يستيقظ أبواه فى تلك الساعة من الليل ويجداه مستيقظا ، حتى عندما أحضر كرسيا وشب عليه وأخذ يفتش الجدران وركز بصره فى السقف لم يجدها ولم يعثر لها على أثر. حينئذ فقط ... ، حين أدرك أن فراشته قد طارت بعيدا ، وأنها ليست معه الآن ، كان يشعر أن ثقلا كبيرا يحط على قلبه ، وأن الدنيا تستحيل أو يخفف من شدة سواده مهما سكب عليه من ألوان كان يحس أن بقلبه وحشة، وأنه مهما فعل ، حتى لو ذهب إلى فراش أمه وأبيه وظل فى أحضانهما وهو يبكي طول الليل، حتى لو قام وارتدى ملابسه واتجه إلى مدرسته وهو ينتظر مدرس الرسم الذي يحبه ويفهمه، فلن يبدد وحشة قلبة شئ ، فقد أدرك أن غياب فراشته أصبح واقعيا، وأنها طارت بعيدا... ولن تأتي!
