«صرخت البنتُ صرخة خلعت قلبَ الولد... اقترب يُعاين، حدَّثها لاهيًا من دون أن ينزع القناع: «ما لِك؟ ما لِك؟!»، عجب لصراخها الذي ازداد حدةً عندما اقترب منها... نزع القناع فكفَّت عن الصراخ وهدأت ملامحُها. «ما لِك؟!». «ماكنتش لاقياك، وكان في هنا بلياتشو». اندهش: «ما هو أنا البلياتشو». ولكي يجعلها تقتنع فتطمئن أعادَ القناع إلى وجهه: «حتى شوفي». صرخت الطفلةُ في رُعب. قرّب وجهه ال «صرخت البنتُ صرخة خلعت قلبَ الولد... اقترب يُعاين، حدَّثها لاهيًا من دون أن ينزع القناع: «ما لِك؟ ما لِك؟!»، عجب لصراخها الذي ازداد حدةً عندما اقترب منها... نزع القناع فكفَّت عن الصراخ وهدأت ملامحُها. «ما لِك؟!». «ماكنتش لاقياك، وكان في هنا بلياتشو». اندهش: «ما هو أنا البلياتشو». ولكي يجعلها تقتنع فتطمئن أعادَ القناع إلى وجهه: «حتى شوفي». صرخت الطفلةُ في رُعب. قرّب وجهه المُقنَّع في حيرة: «بتصرخي ليه تاني؟!». ولمَّا استمرت في الصراخ نزع القناعَ وكرر السؤال. «كان فيه بلياتشو، ومالقيتكش جنبي»، «وبعدين بقى!..? ما قلت لك أنا هوّ، هوّ أنا. وبعدين هوّ فيه حد يخاف م البلياتشو؟»».
في «الغُميضة» ولد وبنت يَجدان نفسيهما على خشبة مسرح الحياة حيث الفُرجة والانتقاء والمشاركة. الفُرجة تحتاج إلى عينَينْ، والانتقاء يتطلب معرفة، والمشاركة لا تتم بلا مُصارحة ووضوح. شرطها البسيط: أن نتعامل وجهًا لوجه، وإلا تحولت الحياةُ إلى «غُميضة»... الفائز فيها هو القادر على الاختباء والتمويه وإجادة استخدام الأقنعة. فهل يلجأ كلٌّ منهما إلى قناع يختبئ خلفه؟ أم يختاران اللعب على نظافة، وجهًا لوجه؟
