لم تخضع ترجمة النصوص الحالية وجمعها في البداية لتخطيط مسبق بهدف تشكيل كتاب، رغم ذلك فقد تحكَّم في اختيار النصوص وترجمتها ناظم فكري يعتبر هذه النصوص نوعا من الفكر المختلف والمنبوذ في الثقافة الغربية، رغم قدرته الكبيرة على مساءلة الإنسان المعاصر وزعزعة كيانه وتعبيراته الرمزية والفكرية. إذ يعصف هذا الفكر اليقظ بكل ما استتب إلى حدِّ الآن من أنماط النظر وخصوصا ذلك الذي يقوم على أساس وضعي، يجعل نقطة ارتكازه الحقيقة العلمية ومنطقها الصارم، كما سعى هيدغر إلى إبرازه ببلوغ الميتافيزيقا أفق اكتمالها ومن ثم الحاجة إلى تجاوزها. يفتح هذا الفكر جرح النرجسية الغربية ومركزيتها، ويعيد مساءلة مسلماتها القائمة على إيديولوجيا الحرية المطلقة التي لم تعد تعترف بالمنع وبالمقدس وبما يسميه باتاي ب "الإيروسية" التي لا يمكن اختزالها في مظهر الجنسانية وحده، مما يجعل كل حديث عن الانتهاك والخرق تبعا لذلك خاليا من كل معنى. يقول فليب سوليرز:
