بول ريكور (بالفرنسية: Paul Ricœur ) فيلسوف فرنسي وعالم إنسانيات معاصر ولد في فالينس، شارنت، 27 فبراير 1913، وتوفي في شاتيناي مالابري، 20 مايو 2005. هو واحد من ممثلي التيار التأويلي، اشتغل في حقل الاهتمام التأويلي ومن ثم بالاهتمام بالبنيوية، وهو امتداد لفريديناند دي سوسير. يعتبر ريكور رائد سؤال السرد. أشهر كتبه (نظرية التأويل -التاريخ والحقيقة-الزمن والحكي- الخطاب وفائض المعنى - Interpretation philosophic theory - Discourse and the Surplus of Meaning / من منشورات جامعة تكساس المسيحية عام 1976).

لا مناص من أن الفيلسوف يتمسك بروح الانتقاد تمسك السمكة بعنصرها المائي ؛ بيد أن الانتقاد الذي نحن بصدده ها هنا يكاد يكون خانقا، إذ يكبس على أنفاس الفكر تماما مثلما كانت تصنع الدوغمائيات من قبل. كما لو أن قدر مجتمعاتنا هو التأرجح الدرامي بين الغلو الدغمائي والتطرف الريبي. وقد نبه ريكور، في مؤلفه الذاكرة،التاريخ،النسيان، إلى أن الأمور تغيرت كثيرا عما كانت عليه في عصر الأنوار: »فقد كان هم الأنواريين هو الاعتراك مع الاعتقاد الساذج والدجل الفكري، فصارت المعركة اليوم تخاض ضد الجحود والارتياب وإرادة النسيان « . لأنه متى لم يعد هناك اعتقاد نتشبث به، ولا بقي بين أيدينا ما نؤمن به، فإن كل شيء سيتبخر ويتحول إلى هباء منثور، بما في ذلك الشهادات المدوية التي سيحكم عليها بالتزام الصمت والخرس. وبالمقابل، فإن الاعتقادات الصحيحة لا تتهرب بتاتا من المواجهة النقدية.فليس بوسعنا إذن، في رأي ريكور، المقابلة بصورة سطحية بين الانتقاد والاعتقاد: فالفلسفة الأكثر نقدية تتضمن لامحالة اعتقادات قوية، والاعتقاد الديني يتوفر اليوم من دون شك على حس نقدي لم نعد نجد له نظيرا في مجتمعاتنا.
