يضطر جوليان للذهاب الى ميلانو كي يعمل في تنظيف المداخن, من اجل ان يساهم في اعالة اسرته و علاج امه المريضة.يعيش جوليان هناك في ظروف غير انسانية, و يتعرض للاضطهاد و الجوع و المرض, و يموت بعض زملائه جراء المرض. فكيف تمكن جوليان من النجاة , و من ساعده؟ و كيف رجع الى وطنه؟ إنها قصة عن معاناة الأطفال توجب الاهتمام بعالم الطفولة.
