يشكل متن هذا الكتاب محاولة تسعى إلى جعل مواد علم النفس في مختلف أطره ومفاهيمه وتقنياته واتجاهاته المتعددة في متناول القراء المختصين وغير المختصين الذين يودون إغناء تجربتهم النفسية والاجتماعية وتوسيعها خصوصاً في حقل الاختبارات النفسية والدراسات المنجزة في ذلك المضمار منذ القرن الماضي وحتى اليوم.
وهذا النوع من الدراسة ليس جديداً على المختصين له في الجامعات، لكنه يفتقر إلى قولبة وتنظيم وتبويب وذلك للإحاطة بكل موضوعاته ودراساته، ليسهل الإطلاع على مادة ما ونوع ما من أنواعه المتعددة خدمة للبحث العلمي. والباحث النفسي اليوم لا يستطيع بدون شك أن يدرس أو يتعمق في حالة ما فردية أم جماعية دون اللجوء إلى قياسها ميدانياً كعامل مساعد ومنهجي لتوضيح رؤيته، ولإعطاء حكم ما على طبيعة وإشكالية هذه الحالة. فالقياس مادة متنوعة وغنية دائمة الإبداع تصب في خدمة توضيح الموضوعات المختلفة وعلى رأسها الذكاء الإنساني والسلوك النفسي للفرد.
