إن هذا البحث أولاً هو ذو طابع تحقيقي حيث تتطرق محاولة المؤلف هذه إلى دراسة السلطة من منظورها التعريفي والأتيمولوجي، كذلك تعمق في فقه هذه السلطة وماهيّتها، ودراسة الأواليات التي تجعل من السلطة أمراً واقعاً وثابتاً، تلتف حولها الجماعة (Foule)، وكذلك إلى وجودها من الناحية السيكولوجية والنفس-اجتماعية والسياسية والايديولوجية كمحتوى وكمعنى. ومن هذه الأواليات التماهي أو (التعيين والتوحّد) مع القائد السلطوي. وكان من الضروري أيضاً على المؤلف التعرّض إلى فلسفة السلطة والقيادة كمفهومين جدليّين متفاعلين ترتبط بمعانيها كل المفاهيم والآراء الأخرى.
