هنالك أقلام قادرة ، وأخرى عاجزة ولو كان حبرها كثيراً وجعبتها محتقنة بالمداد .
فالأولى قد تكون آمرة وقادرة على التغيير والشطب والتجريح بأمر صاحبها ، والثانية قد تسوّد الصفحات فقط كمن يكتب وظيفة وينبغي تصحيحها وتصويبها وتقويمها وتقليمها ، إن شئت .
فالأمر إذن بيد مُمْسِك القلم ، فبعضهم يكتب بيدٍ ثابتة لأنّ أقدامه راسخة ، والبعض يكتب بيدٍ مرتجفة لأنه يستند على أسس هلامية رخوة .
والقلمُ لسانٌ ثانٍ ، وأقوى من اللسان الحقيقي ، لأنّ نُطقَه موثّق ومكتوب .
أما العجزة من حاملي الأقلام فيكتبون لأنفسهم كمن يكتب خواطره ومذكراته ، أو يعجزون عن نشر كتاباتهم فيطويها النسيان والإتلاف ، أو يعجزون عن المواجهة بلسانهم الناطق المتلعثم فيميلون لكتابة الرسائل ، كالعاشق العاجز عن الجهر بحبه لمعشوقته فيميل لأن يكتب لها ورقة يقول فيها أنه يحبها ، ويظن في نفسه أنها ستقرأ رسالته ، ويهرم ويغرق في عجزه منتظراً الردّ الذي سيحمله ساعي البريد الذي تمّ تعطيله .
وهناك أقلامٌ حُكِمَ عليها بالإعدام لأنّ حبرها كان سامّاً .
الأقلام هنا مرتجفة ، لأنّ أصحابها عجزة ، قريبون جداً من مأوى العجزة أو مشفى المجانين . والحبر الذي يكتبون به مائيّ ، يمكن شطفه بالماء ، لتعود صفحتهم بيضاء ناصعة .
