كتاب " أصناف أهل الفكر " لمؤلفه الكاتب " عمار علي حسن " ، يختلف في طريقة عرضه حيث يتناول العديد من القضايا السياسية والثقافية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والمعرفية غير المرتبطة بملاحقة الأحداث الجارية والوقائع السريعة، ولذا فإنه يصلح للقراءة في أزمنة وأمكنة متباعدة ومتغيرة ، هكذا كما يقرر كاتبه وكما يتمنى من كتابه الدسم الممتع ، وسيجد القارئ أيضا تنوعا في أسلوب الكتابة، ولا عجب في هذا، فقد أدرك الكاتب منذ وقت مبكر الفارق بين كتابة سيارة معروضة للعامة وأخرى مكانها قاعات الدرس وسيمنارات العلم، وبين كتابة أدبية تفيض بالبلاغة والمحسنات البديعية وبين لغة العلم التي يجب أن تكون محددة وواضحة ومنضبطة بقدر الاستطاعة. وهذا يختلف بالكلية في جانبيه عن الكتابة الإبداعية التي ترد فيما يؤلفه من أقاصيص وقصص وروايات، يقول الكاتب في مقدمة كتابه " وكثير من هذه الأفكار كانت ومضات برقت في ذهني فانشغلت بها أقلبها على جوانبها حتى نضجت فوضعتها على الورق، وبعضها كان استجابة لمقتضيات واقع يتجدد، لكنها لم تتعامل مع هذا الأمر من زاوية التعليق الصحفي الطارئ والعابر والسريع إنما حاولت أبحث دوما عن الجوانب الخفية و المسكوت عنها فأجلي غامضها وأشرح مختصرها ".
