إنَّ الجَراءةَ اللازِمةَ لإِشعَالِ فَتيلِ ثَورةٍ عِلمِيةٍ حَقيقِيةٍ تَطالُ مَفاهِيمَ أَساسِيةً انْصاعَ لها العالَمُ لِعُقُود، وتُغيِّرُ جِذريًّا كُلَّ ما سَبقَها، لا تَتأتَّى بمُجرَّدِ الاجْتِهادِ فَحسْب، فالقُدرةُ عَلى تَحوِيلِ المَعرِفةِ إِلى مادَّةٍ للابتِكَار تَحتاجُ إِلى بَصِيرةٍ نَافِذةٍ تُقوِّي دَعائِمَها الثِّقة، وتُتوِّجُها لَمحةُ الإِبدَاع. وبِرغْمِ ما يُواجِهُه أَربابُ هَذِه الثَّوراتِ مِن رَفضٍ تامٍّ وهُجومٍ شَرِس، فإنَّ العالَمَ يُدرِكُ لاحِقًا أَهمِّيةَ لحَظاتِ التَّنوِيرِ تِلك، ويَمنحُها الخُلودَ، سواءٌ اختَلفَ مَعَها أَو اتَّفَق. هَكذَا أَخذَتْ نَظرِيةُ «النشوء والارتقاء» ﻟ «داروين» مَكانَها فِي مَصافِّ الثَّوراتِ العِلمِيةِ الخَالِدة، وبِرغْمِ ما أَثارَتْه وتُثِيرُه مِنَ الجَدلِ الفَلسَفيِّ والدِّينيِّ حتى يَومِنا هَذا، فإنَّ مَوقِعَها فِي الأَوسَاطِ العِلمِيةِ والفِكرِية يُثير الفُضولَ لمَعرِفةِ المَزِيدِ عَن هَذِه النَّظرِيةِ التي أَحدثَتْ هِزَّةً فِي عُمقِ نَظرةِ الإِنْسانِ إِلى هُويَّتِه، وعَلاقَتِه بالطَّبِيعةِ والكَوْن.
