كنَّا نظن التداولية نظرية فلسفية لغوية فحسب، تحمل آراء الفلاسفة وأقوالهم حول الخطاب وكيفية الحوار والتواصل،لم نفكر قط أن يكون لها علاقة بالجانب العصبي، حتى رأينا كتابين أثارا فضولنا حول النظرية التداولية كنظرية لها علاقة بالجانب العصبي، حيث تناول الكتابان الجانب العصبي في هذه النظرية، وكان الكتابان هما: (العقل واللغة والمجتمع) لجون سيرل، الذي عرض فيه للقصدية والهدف منها، ودور المخ في معالجتها بصورة تفصيلية؛ متبحراً في الجانب العصبي، والكتاب الثاني (اللغة والدماغ) للورين أوبلر وكريس جيرلو، الذي يبدو من عنوانه أنه كتاب يتناول قضايا تخص الدماغ واللغة، وما بينهما من علاقة تكاملية. وقد عرض المؤلفان فيه حالات إصابة النصف الأيمن من المخ، وأثرها على إدراك المريض للعناصر التداولية في كلامه وفي تفاعله مع الآخرين، وفي حديثه بشكل عام، مما أوضح مدى العلاقة بين الإصابة المخية في النصف الأيمن من المخ وفهم الكلام والسلوك التفاعلي مع الآخرين، وإنتاج الكلام بصورة لائقة تناسب مقام القول.
