المؤلف هنا يحاول طرق باب من أبواب البيان، وهو باب الاستعارة، وقد سبق إلى هذا الباب علماء أجلاء، أبلوا فيه بلاء حسنًا، فعرض هنا فكرة الاستعارة كما ذكرها القدماء، ورجع لرأي المحدثين فيها، وقد وضع القدماء أصول هذا العلم، وقد فتح المحدثون الباب وزادوا فيه ليبدعوا من جديد، ويعيدوا النظر إلى الاشياء، فتبدو في شكل جديد، كأنما لم تدرس من قبل، وقد جاء الكتاب في صورة جامعة لفكر القدماء والمحدثين حول الاستعارة، ولكي يكون العمل ميدانيًا كان كتاب (تلخيص البيان في مجازات القرآن) للشريف الرضي القاعدة التي انطلق منها إلى الأمثلة التطبيقية على الاستعارة القرآنية، ليجمع بين الفكر الحديث، وفكر ورأي القدماء حول الصورة الاستعارية، ثم دخل بهذا التصور القديم إلى ما يراه المحدثون، فتبدو الصورة الاستعارية أكثر وضوحًا بما يخلعه عليها تحليل المحدثين من إلقاء الضوء على جوانب في الصورة لم يشر إليها القدماء، ولم يتناولوها بالدراسة أو التحليل.
كل هذا في سبيل هدف واحد، هو توضيح إعجاز الكتاب الكريم، وهذا الأمر ليس الغرض منه تطويع النص القرآني للنظريات الدلالية الحديثة، أو أنه يجاريها، بل لبيان أن الحق سبحانه وتعالى سبق بكلامه ما وصلت إليه عقول البشر، وأن ما فيه من بيان أعجز كل أصحاب البيان، وما دفعنا إلى محاولة فهم النص القرآني المعجز إلا قوله تبارك وتعالى (أفلا يتدبرون القرآن أم على قلوب أقفالها)، وفي موضع آخر (أفلا يتدبرون القرآن ولو كان من عند غير الله لوجدوا فيه اختلافًا كثيرًا)، فمحاولة فهم النص القرآني هو أمر من الله لنا، فعلينا أن نطيع أمر ربنا، ولقد لوحظ ما قدمه علماء اللغة في عصرنا حول الاستعارة كباب من أهم أبواب الإبداع من دراسات جادة، قاموا فيها بتحليل الجانب اللغوي والذهني لهذه العملية لإخراج مكوناتها الدلالية، بشكل يشعرك أنه لا يوجد ما يقال بعد ذلك، لكن باب البحث والدراسة والإبداع فيه لا ينتهي، بل لابد لكل باحث أن يبدأ من حيث انتهى الآخرون، فيوظف كل جديد يجده، أو يبتكره من سبقه في خلق جديد آخر لم يسمع به من قبل، وانطلاقًا من هذا المفهوم قام عالمنا المبدع الأستاذ الدكتور عطية سليمان بمحاولة توظيغ معطيات بحوث ودراسات هؤلاء الباحثين المحدثين في دراسة الاستعارة، وما قدمه القدماء من دراسات في هذا الباب من خلال كتاب الشريف الرضي، لتوضع هذه الآيات القرآنية في مكانها اللائق بها كآيات معجزات، تظل مادة بحثية في كل زمان ومكان، لا يشبع منها العلماء، وبتهر الناس بإعجازها الذي لا ينتهي.
