يتناول هذا الكتاب بعض موضوعات المعتقدات الشعبية قاصداً من خلال هذا التناول فهم الحكمة التي تدعو المصريين للجوء إلى مثل هذه الأفكار الاعتقادية الشعبية. إذ أن غاية مراد الباحثين في مجال علم الفولكلور الكشف عن طبيعة الأفكار التي يحتويها العقل الجمعي التي تؤسس للأختيار بين البدائل الثقافية البديل المناسب . إذ أن المجتمعات البشرية في كل البقاع العمرانية عندما تلجأ إلى عناصر ثقافية بعينها تتبناها وتستعين بها كي يتحقق التعاعيش مع منطق الظروف المحيطة.
