من يراقب ما يردد في العرس من أغان، ومهاهاة، سيجد أن محورها الأهم هو ما يغني للعروس (ليلة الحناء) وساعة الحمام، و(الصمدة) في بيت أهلها، وأخيراً الجلوة، في بيت العريس، وتسمى جميعها "التراويد" وواحدتها "الترويدة"، وتدور كلها حول "الروَّيدة"، وحتى تلك الأغاني التي تغنى للعريس أثناء تخضيه بالحناء، وحمّامه، ويؤدي بعضها النساء، وبعضها الرجال، وبعضها مشترك، تسمى التسمية ذاتها، وتتغنى في غالبيتها بجمال الرويدة، وبهائها، وجاذبيتها، أما بقية الأغاني التي تتماشى مع مراحل الاحتفال بالزواج فهي، على أهميتها، أما مقدمات تمهيدية، للترويدة، وتحضير للخطة غنائها قد يستمر أياماً، وأما متممات لسد بعض الثغرات الفنية، والفترات الزمنية التي لا تغطيها الترويدة، أو التأكيد على ما ورد فيها من أفكار خصبية بأساليب متنوعة، وتزيينها كما تزين الأهداب والحلي لا بسها، لتؤدي غرضها في أكمل صورة وأحسنها، وهذا محور الدراسة في هذا الكتاب، ما الرويدة؟ وما الترويدة؟ وهدف الكتاب من وراء دراسته هذه المساهمة في فهم الشخصية العربية فهماً واعياً، والإطلال على أرضية سلوكها الجمعي، لأنه ليس خفياً ما للتراث الشعبي في صلة مع علوم شتى، وما له من منطقتنا العربية من تأثير ظاهر جلي، أو خفي مستبطن، يحرك دوافع السلوك الجمعي والفردي، ويتحكم في أسلوب التفكير، ويوجه منحاة، سلباً أو إيجاباً. وهو ذلك جدير بأن يكون موضع اهتمام الباحثين، وأن يدرس بتأن وموضوعية.
