الديموبولو تيكيا هو العلم الذي يدرس علاقة السكان بالدولة ويعد السكان من بين مكونات الدولة الأساسية وبالتالي فإن قوة الدولة النسبية تعتمد على حجم السكان، والتاريخ شاهد على ذلك. فجميع الدول التي توسعت والتي تقدمت وقويت تعتمد على سكانها إلى حد كبير، فالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والصين وروسيا والمملكة المتحدة وفرنسا واليابان وإيطاليا جميعها دول تتمتع بكثرة سكانها، ولذلك عندما توفرت لها عناصر القوة الأخرى كان للسكان دورهم الهام والفعال في تقدم هذه الدول.
ويحاول هذا الكتاب دراسة السكان وعلاقتهم بالدولة من حيث حجمهم وتوزيعهم وتأثيرهم في قوة الدولة.
