قامت هذه الدراسة على تمهيد وأربعة فصول وخاتمة، فجاء التمهيد على محورين أولهما سيرة حياة الكاتب وثانيهما مفهوم السرد الرسائلي، تناولت الدراسة في الفصل الأول عتبة العنونة في ثلاثة مباحث: تضمن المبحث الأول العنونة الكبرى في سيرة الجسد وصهيل المطر الجريح وخصص المبحث الثاني للعنونة المتوسطة (عناوين الرسائل) وتضمن المبحث الثالث العنونة الصغرى في الرسائل. أما الفصل الثاني فقد تناول فضاء السرد الرسائلي وجاء في ثلاثة مباحث تضمن المبحث الأول: مفهوم المكان وخصص المبحث الثاني: لمفهوم الزمان وتناول المبحث الثالث: مفهوم الرؤية، أما الفصل الثالث: فكان منصباً على الفضاء السير ذاتي وقد جاء في ثلاثة مباحث تناول الأول: الحدث السير ذاتي وتضمن المبحث الثاني: الشخصية السير ذاتية أما المبحث الثالث: فتناولنا فيه مفهوم الأنا والآخر، أما الفصل الرابع: فقد تضمن دراسة التداخل الأجناسي في الرسائل وقد تناولنا فيه: أولاً التداخل مع الشعر وثانياً تداخل السيرة الذاتية مع الرسائل، وثالثاَ تداخل السرد الرسائلي مع السينما ورابعاً التداخل مع الموسيقى.
