سخّر الرّوائيّ قدراته الفنّيّة واللّغويّة، لنقل التّصوّرات والوقائع والأحداث والأشخاص إلى نصّه الرّوائيّ؛ فاكتسبت بذلك كلّ لغة خصوصيّتها من طبيعة الموضوع الروائي لأن " اللّغة هي القالب الَّذي يصبّ فيه الرّوائيّ أفكاره، ويُجسّد رؤيته في صورة ماديّة محسوسة، وينقل من خلال رؤيته للنّاس والأشياء") 1( لغة خاصّة يعبّر ولهذا فلكلّ جنس أدبيّ بها الأديب، فلغة الرّواية تختلف عن لغة الشعر، وموضع اختلافها يكمن في ارتباطاها بواقعها، أو ابتعادهما عنه، أي أنّ اللّغة الشّعريّة مغرقة في الخيال، بينما لغة الرّواية ترتبط بالواقع أكثر،" فالشاعر يحلّق بأجنحته في عالم الخيال مبتعداً عن أرض الواقع، متّخذاً من التّخيّل عنصراً جوهريًّا، بينما الرّوائيّ يرتبط بالواقع، ويستخدم اللّغة الواضحة الكاشفة للعوالم النّفسيّة والصّراع الاجتماعيّ؛ فهو يرتفع على الواقع ولا ينفصل عنه
