حين نفرغ من قراءة (حب وبرتقال) للكاتب مصطفى لفتيري، نتساءل: هل نحن إزاء نص روائي واحد، أم سيرة روائية، أم أربعة نصوص في كتاب واحد؟ غير أننا ما نلبث أن ندرك أن ما يجمع النصوص هو المكان والزمان والأحداث، ويبقى مصطفى لفتيري ذلك الخيط المتين الذي يربط بينهما، ما يجعلنا أمام أربعة نصوص سردية طويلة، متوازنة، متجاورة، لكل منها مساره السردي وحبكته المستقلة عن الإخرى، ولكنها تقتصر على شخصية (الأم) وشخصية (الإبن) والعلاقة الوثيقة بين الإثنين، بما فيهما من نقاط التقاطع والإلتقاء والإفتراق، حيث تم للكاتب تشكيل النص بعناصر مغايرة تفرد للفن حيزاً كبيراً، وبهذا يكون السرد فنياً ويؤدي وظيفة مزدوجة تتمثل في الإخبار والإمتاع معاً؛ أليس الأدب في كل الأحوال إنتقاء من الحياة ذو طبيعة نوعية هادفة.
ولكن ما حكاية البرتقال هاته؟ - يقول الكاتب – وعلى لسان الراوي: "وحتى لا يذهب ذهنك أيها القارىء بعيداً، ونتوغل في التأويل الذي أحترز منه، أخبرك بأن أمي كانت تحمله إليّ كل مساء حين تعود من المعمل الذي تشتغل فيه، معمل تلفيف البرتقال. كانت تقضي فيه يومها كاملاً، (...) غالباً ما كنت أقف خارج البيت لأنتظر قدومها في المساء (...) أنتظر بصبر إطلالة أمي وحبة البرتقال ... تلج البيت، فيصبح للعالم طعم آخر .. تملأ المكان بحضورها الباذخ .. أشعر بالأمان، بالحب، وبالحياة في أرقى معانيها .. وأجمل من كل ذلك طعم البرتقال الذي يكتسحني على حين غرة ...".
يضم الكتاب أربعة نصوص سردية قسمها الكاتب إلى فصول جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: الفصل الأول: البرتقال، الفصل الثاني: الحب، الفصل الثالث: الخيال، الفصل الرابع: الحياة.
