وقد تصدى العلامة عبد الرؤوف المناوي رحمه الله المتوفى سنة 1031 للهجرة لشرح هذا الكتاب فأجاد في شرحه وأفاد، وسمى كتابه هذا فيض القدير بشرح الجامع الصغير، وهو شرح وسط ليس بالطويل الممل ولا بالمختصر المخل، فيتكلم على ألفاظ الأحاديث ويحل مشكلها ويوضح غامضها ويكشف عن فوائدها، وما يستنبط منها من الأحكام بعبارة واضحة خالية من التعقيد، كما يذكر أحكام أئمة الشأن على الأحاديث الواقعة في الكتاب، وقد أوضح في مقدمته طريقته في الشرح فقال ما عبارته: ( وبعد ) فهذا ما اشتدت إليه حاجة المتفهم بل وكل مدرس ومعلم من شرح على الجامع الصغير للحافظ الكبير الإمام الجلال الشهير، ينشر جواهره ويبرز ضمائره، ويفصح عن لغاته، ويفصح القناع عن إشاراته، ويميط عن وجوه خرائده اللثام، ويسفر عن جمال حور مقصوراته الخيام، ويبين بدائع ما فيه من سحر الكلام، ويدل على ما حواه من درر مجمعة على أحسن نظام،
