إنَ أحقَ العلوم بالتقديم، وأجدر الفضائل بالتَبجيل والتعظيم، وأحسن ما تصرف له الأعمار، وتوجه إليه الهمم والأفكار، الإشتغال بعلم الحديث، الممدوح في القديم والحديث، كيف لا وهو الذي يعرف به سائر التكاليف والأحكام، ويتميَز به الحقُ من الباطل والحلال من الحرام، وقد كثر فيه التأليف، وأشبع الكلام عليه في التصانيف، ومن المكثرين فيه الحافظ الخطيب البغدادي، حيث قلَ فن من فنونه إلا وله فيه كتاب مفرد.
ثم جاء من بعده الحافظ ابن الصلاح فألَف كتابه المشهور "معرفة علوم الحديث"، وقد إعتنى بتصانيف الخطيب بتصانيف الخطيب المتفرقة، وبغيرها من كتب أهل العلم، فجمع في كتابه ما تقرَق في غيره، فلهذا عكف الناس عليه.
والإمام النووي من أولئك العلماء الذين اختصروا كتاب الصلاح، حيث إختصره في كتاب سمَاه، "إرشاد طلاَب الحقائق إلى معرفة سنن خير الخلائق"، وزاد عليه بعض الفوائد، ثم إختصر كتابه هذا في كتاب صغير سماه "التقريب والتيسير لمعرفة سنن البشير النذير"، الذي شرحه الحافظان شمس الدين السخاوي، ورجال الدين السيوطي.
أما شرح هذا الأخير فقد طبع مرات عديدة، وأما شرح الحافظ السخاوي فهو هذا الذي بين يديك، قدمه المؤلف بعد أن كان مخطوطاً غير مطبوع، حيث قام بتحقيق هذا الشرح المفيد والتعليق عليه، ثم بطباعته ونشره، ليكون متيسراً لدى العلماء وطلاب العلم، فيستفيدوا منه.
وهو شرح من عالم نحرير، قد حوى في طياته الكثير من الفوائد والعلم الغزير، فكان الإعتناء به ليس بسهل ولا يسير.
