يرى عدد من الباحثين في شئون الأغذية أنه لا يكفي تنوير الجمهور في هذا الموضوع، بل يجب على الحكومات والهيئات الرقابية المسئولة أن تراقب المطاحن والأسواق ومحال الأكل وبيع الأغذية مراقبة فعالة، لكي يمتنع عرض الأطعمة التي لا تتفق وأصول التغذية العلمية الصحيحة. ويجب أن تشمل مباديء العلوم والصحة التي تدرس للتلاميذ في المدارس على مقدار واف من المعلومات لإرشادهم إلى خير الأغذية التي ينبغي أن يقبلوا عليها وطريقة تنظيم وجبات الطعام، لكي تكون مطابقة لأصول التغذية، فيشب الصغار وقد تكونت عندهم عادات سليمة بشأن أختيار الغذاء الصالح لأجسامهم.
