تنمية مفهوم المواطنة عند الطفل بما يتضمنه من حقوق وواجبات يعد سبي ا لا إيجابياا لخلق المواطن الصالح الفعال في المجتمع. لهذا تمت الملاحظة من خلال الزيارات الميدانية لبعض الروضات أن الأطفال ليس لديهم وعى بالتراث الوطنى، كما أن معظم معلمات الروضات لا تقدم التراث الوطنى باهتمام مثلما تقدم باقى المفاهيم، وأن كل ما يقدم للطفل في هذا الموضوع هو اجتهاد منهن ولا يتعدى المناقشة مع الأطفال، بالرغم من وجود مجال المفاهيم التاريخية بوثيقة المعايير القومية لرياض الأطفال، ويحتوي على مجموعة من المؤشرات فقط ولا يوجد برامج مقننة معتمدة من وزارة التربية والتعليم تنال مجال المفاهيم التاريخية. تم إعداد أدوات البحث المناسبة لطفل الروضة والتي تمثلت في إعداد قائمة أبعاد الوعي بالتراث الوطني،
