كما لم يشهد تاريخ البشرية حقبة من الزمن تحدث فيها العديد من الكتاب والمفكرين وأصحاب الرأي عن حاجة هذا البعد إلى المبتكرين من الناس يمثل ما حدث في هذه الأيام التي نعيشها، فالإهتمام بالإبتكار يعبر عن حاجة المجتمعات المعاصرة إلى حل مشكلاتها وزيادة وتنمية ثرواتها البشرية.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب في أربعة فصول، تضمن الفصل الأول التفكير الإبتكاري وتعريفاته المتعددة وطبيعة هذه الظاهرة؛ بإعتبارها قدرة عقلية، وناتج، ودافع، وسمة شخصية، وكذلك مناخ بيئي، في حين كان الفصل الثاني بعنوان المناخ الإبتكاري ليشمل معوقات التفكير الإبتكاري والمعلم وعملية التفكير الإبتكاري ودور الأسرة في إبتكارية الأبناء.
أما الفصل الثالث فقد تناول أنواع القياس للتفكير الإبتكاري كالمقياس التقديري والإختبارات المستخدمة لقياس التفكير الإبتكاري، بينما جاء الفصل الرابع والأخيرة ليتناول تنمية التفكير الإبتكاري والطرق والأساليب الفردية والجماعية المستخدمة في تنمية التفكير الإبتكاري.
