هبّ سري، فيما هبّ أهل البيت، على القصف الآتي من البحر والجوّ وكل التلال والجبال والدنيا، بعد، ليل.. وحيّ البساتين.. نار! صاح أبوه: حرائق! صاحت أمه: كلّ صور. برية.. وبحرية. أخته.. وأخوه: لعنة الله عليهم! الويل لك، يا إسرائيل! لا رحمة لا دين. تتابعت الأصوات، وحواشي الأفق تومض بالدويّ الزاحف على المرسى والشط والشجر. أمس ضربوا عين الحلوة، قولي صيدا، وطول الطريق لصور، أي صار لهم أسبوعان... بم بم، أين؟! قريب في الضواحي.. وبعيد، قانا، نجوى. تمتم سري والرهبة في وجوه أهله. قالت أخته الصغرى، خربوها البارحة... نجوى هناك في قانا تمتم سري يخنق الكلمات، ما عليك يا أخي تدبر حالها. قال سري يكبت صيحة ثم يتابع علي أن أذهب، قال أبوه، لقانا؟ ثم أمه، الآن؟ قلبي عليها يا أمي. خلت ننتظر ونرى قليلاً ويطلع النهار. لا، يا أمي، يا ابني، قلبي يقول لي.. يا سري، آخذ الحبيب يا.. الآن".
