ولقد وجد الباحث أن هذا التراث الخلافي الكبير في النحو لم يُدرس دراسة شاملة عامة جديدة، إذ أسهمت عوامل متعددة في تشويه كثير من حقائقه وفي توارث أوهام كثيرة في تاريخ النحو العربي الطويل، وقد عزم على دراسته دراسة جديدة معتمداً المصادر والمظان النحوية القديمة، فضلاً عن النتائج الموضوعية التي توصلت إليها الدراسات الحديثة في هذا الميدان.
