يعد هذا الكتاب باب جديد في أوزان الموشح ونغماته وضعه الدكتور "يوسف عيد" تحت عنوان "التوشيح في الموشحات الأندلسية" وفي ثناياه يقف وقفة مستفيضة حول أرباب الموشح وأعلامه وناظميه، يسبق ذلك حديث حول نشأة الموشح لمعرفة هل هو شرقي أو مغربي؟
عن كتابه هذا يقول المؤلف: "قد يقال في هذا الكتاب، أنه فتح جديد، لأننا انتهجنا فيه منهجاً مأنوساً، وتبسَطنا في شرح الموشحات وتحليلها مثبتين أنها وحاجة غنائية موسيقية وليست هي نتيجة اغطاط أصاب الشعر العربي.
وخوفاً على هذا التراث من الضياع...؛ ملنا إلى تدوين مختلف الموشحات بالعلامة الموسيقية "النوطة". ولامسنا بعض الجدَة في عرض أوزانها وتفصيلاتها. وهي تعتبر، بلا شك، الركن السليم الإيقاعات والمقامات (النغمات) التي تفتقر إليها أذواق الألحان المعاصرة(...)".
قسَم الكتاب إلى أربعة فصول ج أسئلاء الفصل الأول حول نشأة الموشح وأصله، وبحث الفصل الثاني في الموشحات والأوزان ومنها: 1- الموشحات وأوزان الخليل، 2- الموشحات غير الموزونة، 3- الموشحات والأوزان الجديدة، بينما خصص الفصل الثالث لأغراض الموشحات وخاصة ما قام به "زرياب" من إيضاحات في تطبيق الإيقاعين الشعري والغنائي مع نماذج متفرقة، ويأتي الفصل الرابع والأخير في أنفام الموشحات وتلاحينها –عرض لنوطة موسيقية- إختارها المؤلف من كتاب (الموشحات الأندلسية) لفؤاد رجائي صدرت في العام 1955.
