إن موضوع هذا الكتاب هو "دفاتر أندلسية في الشعر والنثر والنقد والحضارة"، ويدور البحث فيه حول موضوعات أدبيّة تطرّق إليها باحثون آخرون ولكن لماماً، من دون التوسّع والكشف والإيضاح، وهو دراسة تتناول شعراء ونثّارين محدثين بحثوا في قضايا أساسيّة لهويّة الأدب الأندلسيّ.
والدفاتر تلك، تتوقف على اللفتات الحضارية من خلال الشعر خصوصاً، بعيداً عن السرد التاريخيّ المملّ، المنطلق الأساسي لقراءة الحضارة إذاً هو الأدب الأندلسي وما زخر به.
وإعطاء الدراسة هذا العنوان هو من باب التسمية الحقيقيّة للموضوعات بحجمها وشكلها ومحتواها، توزّعت الكتاب أبواب وفصول: فالأبواب تتناول الموضوعات والجمال، وألوان الحضارة، والفصول تدرس هذه الأبواب تفصيلاً.
وقد جاءت عناوين الأبواب على الشكل التالي: الباب الأول: الموضوعات الشعرية عند الشعراء الأعلام، الباب الثاني: الجمال ومفهومه، الباب الثالث: الغلموية والشعر والشبق، الباب الرابع: جولات في النثر الأندلسي، الباب الخامس: الأغراض والموضوعات الشعرية.
