أصبت في عام 2008 بعارض مرضي مفاجئ، اجتهد بعض أطباء بغداد بوجوب عملية جراحية ولا بديل آخر عن ذلك.
نصحني كثير من الأصدقاء أن أقصد عمان، لأن الطب هناك متقدم، يضاهي ما هو موجود في إنجلترا مثلاً.
بقيت متردداً لمدة عام كامل، على أن لا مناص من السفر إلى عمان وعرض الحالة على أطباء عمان.
المشكلة أنني لا أعرف أحداً في عمان، على الرغم من أنني سافرت كثيراً إلى بلدان عربية وأروبية.
الحقيقة أني سافرت إلى سوريا كثيراً، وسافرت إلى لبنان مرة واحدة فقط لمدة بضعة أيام في طريقي إلى مدينة الأسكندرية، لمواصلة دراسة مرحلة الماجستير.
بقيت في جامعة الإسكندرية سنتين ونصف حين حصلت على درجة الماجستير في الفلسفة، أحببت الإسكندرية وبعد أن أكملت دراستي للدكتوراه في جامعة كمبردج ورجوعي للعمل أستاذاً للفلسفة في جامعة بغداد، صرت أزور مدينة الأسكندرية خلال العطل الصيفية.
لو خيرت الآن في أية مدينة أتمنى أن أقضي - بقية حياتي، لاخترت مدينة الأسكندرية دون تردد، هذه المدينة الجميلة، التي ليس لها مثيل في البهاء والصفاء.
أني في الحقيقة أشعر بنوع من النقص لأنني لم أزر كثيراً من الأقطار العربية، كم كان بودي أن أزور جميع الأقطار العربية، لأطلع عن كتب على نوع الحياة الإجتماعية والسياسية في هذه البلدان الشقيقة.
أما الأردن فلم أزر هذا البلد الشقيق من قبل، كل ما اذكره أنني مررت ذات يوم بمدينة المفرق بسيارتي الخاصة، قادماً من دمشق إلى بغداد.
