"لم نزل نستجوب العقل بنص، شاخ فيه النهج واستعصى الكلام، نحن أهل العنتريات قديماً، وإلينا يستجيب اللانظام، أمة عن أمة مرت هنا، فرق تنشق والآتي انقسام، ندعي ما ليس فينا خلقة، وبنا ما ازداد في الأرض السلام، ليس في دعوى التباهي حجة، في دليل القوم لغو وانفصام، أكل التخوين من أكبادنا، واختفى من عمر آتينا الوئام، نمضغ النصر الذي لم يك إلا، غزوات الأمس يخفيها انتقام، في دروب السبي عشنا أخوة، في زمان الكرب أقصتنا الخيام ما الذي للردع قد جئنا به؟ ما الذي نعمل والمأوى حطام؟ أيها الآتون من خلف الصدى ليس في قولي إذا شئتم أثام، أخوتي في العقل ما عاد الذي بيننا في الرأي كيد واتهام لا تلوموني إذا اشتط فمي إن "جلد الذات" في الماضي حرام، ليس في التقديس عندي نزعة، لا ولن يحجبني اليوم احتشام، ليس بين الناس معصوم ولا يجمع العباد في الدنيا مقام، فليقل من شاء في صحو المدى، طالما في القول ود واحترام، كم غدا المهزوم رمزاً خائناً، فيه طاب اللعن واشتد الملام، فرض الكهان شرعاً بعدما، عربد التهويل واصطف اللئام لا حداثيون قادوا أمة، نحو عصر الخير بل زاد الركام، هرطقات الفكر سفر مغلق عنه حاد الحق وانزاح اللثام، يرضع الإنسان من نهد الغوى، ويصلي حين يغشاه السقام، شرعة الأرض غدت مرثية، في سماء الله يتلوها العوام كم زنيم نسخت أقواله واصطفتها بعدما شاعت أنام؟!".
