منذ هجرته إلى إسرائيل، أرض الميعاد، قبل خمسون عاماً، والحنين لأرض المغرب يعصره ويؤلمه في الأعماق، وما سيزيد آلامه هو إكتشافه أن الشعب، الذي يعيش على أرض توارتية، غارق في علمانية فاضحة إن لم تكن إلحاداً سافراً، فينزح بعد سنوات إلى كندا، وحنينه دائماً إلى المدينة التي شبّ وترعرع فيها: وُجدة.
زائر وُجدة، هو هذا اليهودي المتعبد التقي الذي سيتقاطع مصيره، عند عودته إلى المغرب، مع مصير جراح متقاعد لا يقل عنه حنيناً لهذه المدينة.
هذا التقاطع بين المصيرين يفضي بهما إلى إكتشاف أن وراء هذا الحنين رغبات دفينة خطتها لهم يد الله... رغبات ليس أقلها، للزائر اليهودي، الموت على أرض المغرب ليدفن بالقرب من زوجةٍ بقي مخلصاً لها طوال حياته.
لم يتعمد الدكتور طعان إنتقاد المجتمع الإسرائيلي، بل ابتغى أن يضيء على علاقة روحية تربط يهود هذا الكيان بالدول التي هاجروا منها بدعوة توراتية.
كعادته يتابع الدكتور محمد طعان معالجة قضايا التقاء الناس من أديان ومشارب مختلفة ويدعوهم، بأسلوب سلس وصافٍ وممتع، إلى التقارب.
الدكتور محمد طعان روائي باللغة الفرنسية، وطبيب جراح يعمل في نيجيريا، "زائر وُجدة" هي روايته الثامنة وكان قد قدّم للسينما خمسة سيناريوهات طويلة وثلاثة قصيرة.
