قام منهج الكتاب (مشاهير وأعيان ونقباء آل البيت) على إيراد نسب كل فرد من الأفراد المترجم لهم، وتتصل سلسلة نسبه حتى تصل إلى جده علي بن أبي طالب، وإيراد ترجمة موجزة ومختصرة، وفي الحواشي يذكر مصدر ترجمة المذكور.
وفي حالات أخرى تم إيراد تراجم مطولة لبعض آل البيت المشهورين، وكذلك وردت تراجم مطولة لبعض آل البيت المشهورين والأعلام من خلال كتاب التحفة اللطيفة في أخبار المدينة الشريفة للإمام السخاوي، وذلك في نفس السياق.
وميزة هذا الكتاب أنه استند على مصادر خطية ومطبوعة ودقيقة أو شمل مساحة هائلة من الكتب والمجلدات بدءاً من بداية الدولة الإسلامية في المدينة المنورة وإنتهاء بأي نسب حتى اليوم.
وقد أخذ جمع هذه المادة سنوات طويلة من البحث والتقصي والتوفيق، والشيء الأهم من ذلك إيصال سلاسل نسب هؤلاء المترجم لهم حتى الإمام علي بن أبي طالب وهذا لا يمكن أن يتم لولا المادة الهائلة من الأسماء المحفوظة على الحاسب التي سهلت ربط الماضي بالحاضر.
وقد ذيل المؤلف الكتاب بالفهارس اللازمة مثل: نقيب الأشراف، العالم، الشاعر المحدث، الفقيه، والأديب... وكذلك أسماء الأماكن والوظائف، وذلك كله مضافاً إليه أسماء الأعلام المترجم لهم حسب الترتيب الألفبائي.
