وبالتالي فإن ما يقدمه هذا الكتاب هو خلاصة ما ذكره المؤرخون والمحدثون من أخبار الذين طلبوا بدم الحسين بن علي ابن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه، وتتبعوا قاتليه حتى قتلوهم وشفوا النفوس منهم وظهر بذلك تصديق قول الحسين رضي الله عنه، في الدعاء على الذين حاربوه (وسلط الله عليهم غلام ثقيف يسقيهم كأساً مصبرة ولا يدع فيهم أحد إلا قتله بقتلة وضربة بضربة ينتقم لي ولأوليائي وأهل بيتي وأشياعي منهم) وغلام ثقيف هو المختار بن أبي عبيدة الثقفي الذي أخذ بثأر الحسين رضي الله عنه وقتل قاتليه.
