"وطن الدموع" هو مجموعة شعرية كتب أكثرها قبل عشرين عاماً وفيها يجسد الشاعر بعده، حبه، ووجده لوطنه في غربته، تنبأ الشاعر بالفراق والحرب، لكنه لم يتخيل المدة التي سيقضيها بعيداً عن أهله ووطنه، وعاش سنين الغربة بعوز وفاقة وطال بحث الشاعر في المنافي عن عراق ضيعه، ولم يجد البديل لوطنه، فما ضيفته الصهوات والعربُ الذين مرّ بهم، ولا سدله جوعاً طعام كالطعام بدار أهله. وهكذا بقي يتيماً، منفصماً مشرداً تارة يموت الشاعر في داخله وأخرى يموت الإنسان في ذلك الشاعر ليصبح بيتاً من الشعر أو نسمة ريح أو شجرة عارية جردتها عواصف الثلوج بشتاء شمال أمريكا القارص. هذه القصائد البداية، نواة الغربة وحصاد البعد، هي دموع لذلك البكاء، وليس للدموع مواعيد مع الرجال حتى وإن كانوا أولئك الذين اتعبوا الأرض في مدارها وخاصموها عثيانها.
