جاءت الرواية في 129 صفحة والتي وصفها كاتبها أحمد بقوله: رواية شجرة الدموع، هي رواية خيالية واقعية، تصور لك بعض الأحداث التي جرت إبان الغزو العراقي لدولة الكويت، بل إنها تمثل قصة عاطفية لها نمط خيالي ربما لا يرضي بعض المتذوقين للأدب، ولكن الأمر يختلف هنا.. فالخيال صورة واقعية حقيقة تمثل الواقع الخيالي الذي ينسل من عمق الإنسان، ولا يمكنه أن يخرج إلا بانفعال وثورة داخلية ملتهبة تحركها عناصر معينة.. فإذا بزغت بحلتها الصداقة، انغمست بوشاحها الجذاب في تلك القلوب التي تبحث عن الجمال بما يحمل من معان، ليكون هو الركيزة الأساسية في الحكم على الأمور، واتخاذ القرار المناسب..
تأخذه الحيرة برهة معينة، ويأخذه الهلع لحظات معينة، لا يستطيع أن يطيل النظر، وأن يقف في مثل هذا الموقف الذي لم يدع له فرصة في أن يميل إلى الهدوء، بل طرد عنه الراحة، ونهر عنه الطمأنينة، ولهذا قد يمسك نفسه أحيانا عن الانهيار ويردعها، ويلاقي في هذا تعبا عظيما، وعملا شاقا، وإلا لوتركوها على سجيتها، لما بقيت إلى هذا الموقف، بل غادرت إلى عالمها دون رجعة.. .
لا يزال ينظر إلى مصيرها بلهفة شديدة، إنه يرى الآن أن هذه الآلة التي أمامه تتحرك شيئا فشيئا، وتسحب يد الفتاة التي قد شدت من الطرف الآخر، وأمسكت بقوة لعينة، إنه يشاهد يدها وهي تشد ببطء قد تتحول إلى قوة، فلم يسمع إلا صراخا قويا قد اهتزت له تلك الساحة.
