الفوضى الإجتماعية، والعبثية الحياتية، كانتا سمتين بارزتين في العصر الجاهلي وقبل مجيء الرسالة الإسلامية، ولكن سرعان ما ان تغير كل شيء في هذا المجتمع، إذ أصبح مجتمعاً عملاقاً بكل ما تعني هذه الكلمة من معنى، وفي زمن قياسي كما يجمع عليه المؤرخون وعلماء الحضارة المعاصرون، إذ تحولت الخصومة والتناخر إلى حب وتعاون، وتحول العبث واللهو إلى جد ومسؤولية، وتحولت الفوضى الإجتماعية إلى شريعة ونظام.
وإذا أردنا أن نبحث عن سر التحول في هذا المجتمع، ودققنا النظر سنجد بداية مركزية قلبت كل المعادلة، وصنعت المعجزة الحقيقية، والسر يكمن في أن الشريعة الإسلامية السمحاء أوجدت الغاية وأوضحت الهدف للإنسان الحائر في حياته ومصيره، ودعت إلى وقف العبث واللهو وكل ما من شأنه هدر الطاقة والإمكانية، وعبأت العناصر الإيجابية في الإنسان بشكل مركز، وإنطلق هذا الإنسان الضعيف، الممزق الحائر، الجاهل ضمن نظام جديد ومعطيات جديدة، فإذا به إنسان جديد... مسؤول... جاد... قوي... متعاون... هادف... عالم...
وهكذا كانت ولادة جديدة لحضارة جديدة، وعندئذ تحركت عجلة تاريخ الإنسان إلى الأمام.
ومن خلال هذا البحث تعرض المؤلف لأخبث نشاط سلبي، ونقطة الإنحدار الأخطر التي يمكن أن تكون بداية النهاية في حياة الأفراد والمجتمعات، ومدخلاً لنفق مظلم لا يستطيع أي مجتمع الخروج من ظلمته، لما يسببه من حالات ونتائج وآثار على كافة مستويات الحياة، إنه (سرطان اللهو والعبثية)، هذا الداء العضال الذي أحدث ويحدث شروخاً في حياة البشر - أفراداً ومجتمعات، وأحدث إنهيارات عميقة في مستوى التفكير والإنتاج البشري.
